Nano silicon carbide (SiC) has a Mohs hardness of 9.5 and a microhardness of 2840-3320 kg/mm², placing it between corundum and diamond in terms of hardness. With mechanical strength higher than corundum, nano silicon carbide is the preferred material for wear-resistant additives. Below is an overview of the main applications of nano silicon carbide:

1. Manufacturing Precision Structural Ceramic Devices

Nano silicon carbide is used in the production of precision ceramic devices for industries such as metallurgy, chemical engineering, machinery, aerospace, and energy. Applications include sliding bearings, liquid fuel nozzles, crucibles, high-power high-frequency molds, and semiconductor components.

2. Metal and Other Material Surface Treatment

Nano silicon carbide is used for surface treatment of metals and other materials, such as tools, molds, heat-resistant coatings, heat dissipation coatings, anti-corrosion coatings, and wave-absorbing coatings.

3. Preparation of High-Performance Composite Materials

Nano silicon carbide is used in the preparation of metal matrix, ceramic matrix, and polymer matrix composites, enhancing their performance.

4. New Material for Modifying High-Strength Nylon Alloys

Adding β-SiC to high-strength nylon alloys increases tensile strength by 10% and wear resistance by 2.5 times compared to ordinary nylon.
